1. Ease of Use
The company behind the Flip camcorder, Pure Digital deliberately designed the Flip to be much easier and more fun to use than a typical camcorder. More expensive camcorders from Sony, Panasonic and JVC will have more features and higher quality video, but many people will never learn to use all the features and the quality of the Flip video is fine for most people’s everyday use.

2. Easy to Upload
The Flip got it’s name because of the USB connector that “flips” out of the body of the device to connect to your computer. You can then upload your videos straight on to your PC or Mac straightaway.

The video quality of the Flip Ultra camcorder is 680 x 480 pixels VGA at 30 frames per second. This quality is ideal for most people’s everyday use for taking videos at parties, holidays and weddings and other occasions with family and friends. More recently, there are HD versions of the Flip Ultra and Flip Mino to buy. These offer you all the convenience of the Flip with a high definition picture as well. The best of both worlds really.  

4. Small Size
The Flip is an “ultra portable” device and is small enough to carry in the pocket of your coat, or a handbag or purse. Mobile phones are smaller but the video from them is low quality and difficult to upload.

5. No USB Cables
It is called the Flip because the USB connector “flips” out of the side of the unit for connecting to your computer. Everything is designed for convenience. The Flip also comes with a TV cable if you want to watch the videos on your TV.

6. No Software
There is no software to install with the Flip camcorder regardless of whether you are using a PC or Mac. The software is already installed inside the Flip and it detects whether you are using a PC or a Mac. It also gives you the facility to edit your videos and add a soundtrack, but nothing too complicated!

7. Different Colours
The Flip is available in 5 attractive colours: Black, Green, Pink, Orange and White.

8. PC and Mac
Mac or PC, the Flip doesen’t care! It is compatible with both. (Shouldn’t it always be like this?).

9. AA Batteries
As much as we love the iPod, if the batteries fail, you will need to return it to Apple. The Flip uses the standard, commonly available AA batteries and you can use rechargeables. Simples!

10. Word of Mouth
In America the Flip has become a phenonomen by people spreading the word. Quite a few celebrities have been seen using the Flip as well. More recently, the same has occurred in the U.K. From Paris Hilton to Stephen Fry, they wouldn't be without their Flip Camcorders!
